Skating Under the Spruce at Glide + Gather Skating Experience

Last winter, the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce launched an exciting tradition — a magical community skating experience! The Glide + Gather Skating Rink is returning this year with an expanded celebration to bring the joy of the season to all ages! 

The 2024 Glide + Gather was an incredible success, drawing more families and visitors than the organizers ever imagined. This year, the skating experience will be held at Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, which offers plenty of room, ample parking, and a beautiful, weather-protected setting underneath the tail of the world-famous Spruce Goose! The Chamber is thrilled to welcome the community to an even bigger and brighter celebration. 

The 2025 Glide + Gather Ice Skating Experience will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from November 28 through December 28th. Hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. The glittering skating rink will be located under the tail section of the Spruce Goose, which is a marvel of engineering in itself and measures 79 feet tall, with horizontal stabilizers wider than a B-17's total wingspan. Skating is $10 per person, which includes skate rentals. And don’t worry about bundling up — Glide + Gather uses a synthetic ice rink, the ideal solution to Oregon’s winter weather fluctuations. It requires less water and electricity, making it both cost-effective and eco-friendly! 

But that’s not all — the Glide + Gather Rink connects to the museum’s dazzling Goose Lights, creating a one-of-a-kind holiday atmosphere that truly highlights the best of McMinnville! Goose Lights is a yearly tradition for the museum, featuring a colorful indoor light spectacle that’s truly a sight to behold. With the skating rink and the light show, the scene is nothing short of spectacular! The Chamber is excited to offer a combo pass experience that includes skating and Goose Lights for $20.

The McMinnville Chamber of Commerce is also inviting food and beverage vendors to the event, so folks can grab a hot drink and snacks to enjoy during their visit. Whether you’re planning a date night, a Christmas-themed outing with the kids, or even a solo adventure, the Glide + Gather Skating Rink is the quintessential winter experience. This festive celebration is the perfect opportunity to make holiday memories you’ll treasure for years to come!
