Camille Schectman: Painted With Purpose

ree

Meet Camille Schectman, or “de Camille,” a painter from West Linn, Oregon, who has developed an entirely new approach to creating meaningful art for her clients. Through guided breathwork meditations on Zoom, she conducts the Manifestation Art Experience (M.A.X.), a process designed to help you attract the life of your dreams through art. Camille uses her wisdom, creativity, and ability to connect with others to create personalized paintings that uplift and inspire her clients to live whatever life they choose. “I become an instrument to portray what moves people, what their passions are, and what makes them feel loved and reconnect with their love for themselves,” Camille shares.

Camille’s passion for art began when she was fourteen years old and going to school in England. “My teacher was passionate about describing even the simplest elementary school projects, and I ate it up.” She moved back to the U.S. in the middle of her high school career, where she continued to hone her craft. “I would spend most lunch breaks painting in my high school art classroom, and my teacher let me paint with oils right away. I think it was having that level of support and encouragement that helped me flourish from a young age and discover my gift and what I wanted to do.”

Inspired to give back to the healthcare staff after COVID, Camille worked with the Art Therapy Department at Randall Children’s Hospital with the desire to bring the M.A.X. to them in gratitude for their service. After pooling all the responses, she created a special 5’ x 4’ painting, which she titled River of Manifestation. The painting is now hanging in a corridor off the lobby, serving as a reminder for anyone who walks by.

Throughout her many times conducting the M.A.X., Camille noticed that it was common for clients to recall the ocean as their favorite calming spot while doing the meditation. This connection inspired her next project, the Ocean Bliss series, a beautiful collection of canvases that showcase soft, gentle waves with colors and light dancing across them. This series came very naturally to her. From the time she was a little girl, Camille felt connected to the sea. Growing up along the coast of California and later in the Caribbean, she came to see the ocean as a reflection of her own calm and depth. “I don’t often paint stormy or turbulent oceans,” Camille shared when asked what this series means to her. “When I’m painting it, it’s calming. It’s satisfying. I paint with the intention that the viewer feels the same serenity and calm.”

If you would like to book a Manifestation Art Experience for yourself, a friend, or a loved one, you can find all the information you need on Camille’s website, decamille.com. When asked what makes this experience so special, Camille shared that she feels this kind of project is especially unique as our society shifts to a more digital world. “This is not a gift that will ever go out of style or ‘stop working’ like so many of the other things we consume. This is born from our infinite truth!”
