This summer marks 15 years since Fred Astaire Dance Studios Lake Oswego first opened its doors — and since then, we’ve been dancing not just to the beat of the music, but to something deeper: We’ve moved at the speed of trust. Of laughter. Of courage. We’ve moved at the speed of relationship.
In the past decade and a half, we’ve taught more than 75,000 private lessons, 8,000 group classes, hosted nearly 1,000 events, and helped dancers of all ages step into their first competition or first dance. We’ve watched partners find their rhythm, students find their confidence, and families find a place to belong.
But the numbers only tell part of the story. Here’s a look at the real stats that define the soul of our studio:
Over one million smiles shared — some tentative, some dazzling, all genuine
Countless “one more time”s — because progress loves persistence
Hugs galore — exchanged in moments of celebration and support
Hundreds of fears conquered — and not just about dancing
Seasons of life made more colorful — weddings, farewells, anniversaries, and ordinary Tuesdays
Daily acts of courage — simply walking through the door and saying, “I’d like to learn to dance.”
Spontaneous applause, happy tears, and more stepped-on toes than we’ll ever admit.
Because here, dance isn’t just about steps. It’s about connection.
We believe in moving at the speed of what really matters:
The moment someone believes in themselves.

The second two people finally feel in sync.
The time it takes to turn fear into freedom.
As we celebrate 15 unforgettable years, we’re filled with gratitude — for the dancers who trusted us with their first steps, for the community that shaped us, and for the relationships that have carried us every count of the way.
Here’s to the next chapter — moving forward in grace and purpose, at a pace brisk enough to lift you out of the ordinary, and just slow enough to grow in relationship — with others, and with who you’re becoming.
And the celebration isn’t over yet! Be part of our next chapter and discover where dancing can take you. Join us at our Open House on August 22 at 7:15pm, no experience or partner needed.
